It isn't just "criticism exists, deal with it". As I said, it is also the fact you react to it. If you just have to put up with it, well, it's a very passive way. And as I said, not everyone deals with it the same one. Some are more sensitive than others.

The case one states might not work for others. I'm pretty sure my way of "critics exist no matter what, but I won't give up, I'll just read it several times before I properly reply to them,and then go back to work, because I can do it, even better and harder" won't work for many others.

Many friends of mine have been my worst critics and have taught me more than I'd ever think. But, as I said, many artists, many ways. I was, of course, talking from my own experience.

Also, I apologize for just focusing on criticism, on actual criticism. Of course, there's also the simple opinion, the comment... And those which are more visceral, and sometimes harsh. True that. Not everything is nice and you have to find your way to deal with that as well.

I'm not saying "it exists and you have nothing to do", I'm saying "it exists, find a way to deal with it, I have mine and is this one". I'm not telling people to cross their arms, but to relax before dealing with the subject.

Chuck- Your making an assumption that anyones opinion on an art piece- In a negative light- Should be considered a criticism in the first piece. Which they simply should not be unless they are intelligible! - A criticism should include an analysis and a judgement- Not just a blatant heavily opinionated judgement. It's even within the definition of criticism in relation to art "the analysis and judgment of the merits and faults of a literary or artistic work."

If they just have a negative opinion to speak without substance they are only causing harm. Though they still have every right to state it.... Those that fall into this category ARE taking an attack against you.

And while critics aren't necessarily meaning to personally attack you- some of the meaner hearted ones do it anyways, so covering it in such a broad statement as 'Criticism is just something you have to deal with'~ Is kinda silly. Especially when someone who is posting there artwork for free may only be looking for gentle and kind-hearted support, rather than mean short stabs of unjustified and hateful opinion.

Anyway, about criticism... One thing: once you make something public, it becomes a moving target for critics of any kind. That's one fact you have to face, although it is true not everyone can take criticism the same way. Some are more sensitive than others.

Now, you have to be careful with your reactions as well. After all, the Internet is a big place where rights and wrongs can be magnified. Even if you are upset when you see someone critic your work, don't reply right away. Take your time, just a minute or two, take a deep breath, and think.

Also, remember - though I hope we all are sensible enough to already know this: criticism towards your art isn't a personal attack against you.
