“Let me check my calendar book,” she said. Geoff could hear her flip pages from a small book on her lap. “I can take you every Thursday, would that work out for you?” Geoff was elated that she could see him.

“Yes, I can do Thursdays, what time would work for you?”

“Well, it’s more about your availability, since I’m open all day long.” Her voice was so calm and soothing; Geoff thought he could listen to her all day long. Too bad that would be expensive!
“How about three pm?” he asked her. She told him that was fine, and with that she wrote his name down in her appointment book.

“Now, let’s get some issues straight ahead of time. I charge $200 a week, but that’s because I guarantee my results as long as I’m never questioned and you do as I say. Will that be a problem?” Geoff could feel a stir in his pants as she spoke forcefully to him.

He thought he would joke with her a bit and test the waters. “What am I getting here, a dominatrix?” There was a pause on her end.

“Sir, I have limited time in my schedule, and can have you replaced with a serious client in ten minutes. Perhaps I’m not the person you are looking for.” Geoff’s heart dropped down to his feet in a cold puddle of his icy blood. He coughed into the cell phone’s microphone and quickly apologized.

“I’m deeply sorry,” he studdered, “Of course we go by your direction. I won’t make that mistake again. You are the boss!”

“That’s better. I will see you on Thursday. Have your first payment ready for me. I will have you arrive at my home. Be prompt.” With that, she hung up on him. Geoff breathed a sigh of relief and chastised himself for being such a dork over the phone. Marcus did warn him, and he didn’t take it seriously. Geoff looked skyward and thanked the Lord that he blessed him with Julia. The rest of his walk went much better, now that he had a renewed spring in his step.

Geoff looked at himself in the mirror and didn’t like what he saw. He turned both right and left, trying to view his body from the sides. Any way he turned, he saw the same thing about himself. He was a good thirty pounds overweight and lost his six-pack abs he used to show off when he was in the army. Disappointed with himself, he decided to take a walk along the beach’s boardwalk and try and get some sort of exercise back into his life.

He wasn’t an unattractive guy, just lost what the girls used to drool over about him most. The thought of turning thirty in two weeks with a flabby body started to make him depressed. He sighed and kept walking down the cement walkway.

As it turned out, after mile two of his walk, he walked past a rather fit guy who looked familiar to him. He let the man pass, and that’s when it hit him. Marcus, his old army buddy, was that guy! Geoff quickly turned around and shouted out Marcus’ name. The muscular man turned around to see who said his name and saw Geoff standing there.

“Geoff, is that you?” he said loud enough to let most people around them hear him. Geoff smiled and shouted out Marcus’ name in response.

“Marcus, holy crap, it is you! I thought you were living in Philadelphia. What has you out here in Santa Monica?” They shook hands and came together in the typical one shoulder hug most guys are comfortable doing to another man.

“I got transferred for my job. How are you doing, man? It’s been what, seven years now?”

“Yeah, I’ve been working out here for a large company doing their IT work. A lot of sitting on a chair, if you know what I mean,” Geoff said, rubbing his paunch for Marcus. “I was just thinking how I lost the body the army gave me. You’re looking fit, though. What’s your secret?”

Marcus laughed it off and nodded that he was indeed, fit and tight like a drum. “Yeah, man, ever since I got out here, I’ve been looking to hook myself up with a fitness center or at least a personal trainer.”

“Looks like it’s been working for you,” Geoff complimented, “you look like you just got out of the army yesterday.”

“Dude,” Marcus admitted, “Not only did I find a great trainer, but she is fine as hell! She’s so hot to look at, and she’ll kick your ass at the same time. I should give you her number.”
